Yuzakura 夜桜

How she came to be...

Yuzakura was created between late summer 2025 and spring 2026, during my fifth and final year at ESP Guitar Craft Academy Tokyo. I originally enrolled to learn acoustic guitar building, but while I was still employed full-time and only able to attend the weekend course on Saturdays, there simply wasn’t enough time to dive into it properly. As a result, I spent my first four years building electric guitars instead.

I had way too much fun at ESP GCA, and over time, spending my weekdays in the office became increasingly unbearable. Life is too short to hate what you do — so I quit my job and enrolled in the acoustic class in May 2025.

At first, I had planned to build her in red. If you look at the rosette during the building stages, you can still get an idea of what she might have looked like. But then, in early 2026, I saw a pink Telecaster with a black burst made by a first-year student. That moment sparked something — pure inspiration — and I decided to transform her into a pink “Princess of Darkness.”

This is also an homage to our beloved idol Ozzy, who passed away during the time this guitar was being built.

Besides her beauty and great sound, she is also very easy to play. I spent days just rounding the fretboard edges. She is smooth as a baby’s butt!
